Kpalongo is a type of drum that is associated with kpalongo music. The drum originates from the Ga people of the Greater Accra region of Ghana, West Africa.
Kpalongo is a "dance of the youth", played for recreation and enjoyment. The kpalongo drum must be the most well known African peg drum, of similar shape and sound to the Conga. Cow skin is used for its head producing a soft resonant tone it is played with the hands, a stick or both.
